Scientists soon developed the infrared aural thermometer which measure the energy emitted from the ear canal. This technology would soon make its way into hospitals all around the world. The infrared thermometer is commonly used today in hospitals around the world for measuring the temperature of a person by sticking it in their ears to detect the infrared radiation.
